The Hearts for Legislature Advocacy Project is an idea that grew several years ago out of the passion for Public Education and the need to amplify our community voices at the Texas State Capitol with students at the center of the campaign. 

The Leander ISD Council of PTAs partners with our community and organizations across our district's 200 square miles to create Advocacy Heart events where students and other community members communicate what they need and want from our Texas legislators for their Public Schools by decorating paper hearts. 

Students and community members can create their own hearts at home or they can host or join community meetings occuring OFF of LISD campuses. As event dates are available, we will list them here for you to join. If you have your own batch of hearts, you can drop them off at listed drop off points throughout the district or contact communications@lisdptacouncil.com to arrange a drop off. 

Hearts will be collected and taken to the Texas State Capitol Building where the Leander Council of PTAs - in conjunction with our wonderful partnering groups and community members (that's YOU!) deliver the hearts to our legislators during Texas PTA Rally Day Monday, February 24th while we advocate for our students and public schools. We want them to understand their impact, our needs and never lose sight of their duty to all constituents they represent.
