In addition to the training that Texas PTA requires for leaders, our Council serves as a resource for our Local PTAs. We provide guidance in our delegate meetings and newsletters. We can also host training sessions and/or attend your board or membership meetings to provide training, guidance and feedback. We are in the process of identifying training sessions for the 2024-25 school year.
If you need guidance, please email our Council VP of Training at training@lisdptacouncil.com.
Each Executive Board member must complete the Foundations Essentials training once in their PTA career. This must be completed within the first 30 days of election or appointment. The cost is $10 and can be expensed to your local PTA for reimbursement. It is available in English and Spanish. Additionally, if you are new to a position on your board or at a different PTA, then you must complete the free BASICS course for Boardsmanship and your specific role. Visit the Texas PTA training page for more details and course access.
In addition to the video training courses, Texas PTA provides resource guides for Boardsmanship and specific PTA leadership roles. It is important that you review these resources and become familiar with the guidance and processes to fulfill your leadership role.
Full Circle Leadership is a certification program offered by Texas PTA to help build leadership development. They released this certification course to help our leaders enhance their skills and become even more successful and effective in their communities. These are lifelong skills that can be applied in both the non-profit and for-profit sectors. The beauty of this program is the it is free, self-paced, and can be completed from your home! Our Council believes that this program can benefit all of our leaders, and we will recognize you as a certification recipient on our Awards and Recognition page. We will also highlight you in a newsletter and delegate meeting.

While Texas PTA provides the basis for your training, we also encourage you to explore opportunities to learn from National PTA. Their website provides a wealth of free learning opportunities and can provide some additional tools and resources that you may want to implement at your PTA.
