Join us for a prom prep workday and help make this year’s Prom Shop Event a success! Volunteers will help organize and prepare all the items needed, including beauty products, jewelry, accessories, shoes, dresses, and suit items. Your efforts will ensure every attendee finds the perfect outfit.

• Grooming / Beauty Products & Accessories: Check that makeup, skin/hair products, and grooming accessories are unopened, clean, and not expired. Sort items by type (makeup, hair products, etc.), size, and condition. Label each item clearly with its category. For jewelry, cufflinks, tie pins, and hair accessories, ensure they are undamaged and clean.

• Promwear Accessories: Inspect undershirts, belts, ties, hats, dress socks, bras, shapers (undergarments that help smooth or shape the body), sashes (decorative fabric bands worn around the waist or over the shoulder), hose, handbags, and watches for cleanliness and wear. Sort these items by type, size, and condition before labeling them with the appropriate details.

• Prom Shoes: Examine men’s and women’s dress shoes for damage, cleanliness, and wear. Sort shoes by gender and size. Clearly label each pair with its size.

• Prom Dresses: Inspect formal dresses for stains, tears, and overall cleanliness. Sort dresses by size. After vetting, steam dresses as needed to remove wrinkles.

• Prom Suit Items: Check dress shirts, vests, suspenders, pocket squares (small decorative cloths placed in a suit’s breast pocket), dress pants, jackets, and suit sets for cleanliness, damage, and wear. Sort by type, size, and condition. Steam items as needed and label them with size.
